Hope for new radio journalists

Liverpool Hope University has partnered with the BBC to launch a new Postgraduate Diploma in Radio and Online Journalism.

They hope to address the under-representation of some groups, such as radio enthusiasts with disabilities, within commercial and public service radio.

Starting in January 2011, the course has been designed in collaboration with BBC Radio Merseyside and in close contact with the Broadcast Journalism Training Council. To encourage as many applicants as possible from a broad socio-economic range, the course fees have been set to the lowest band possible. The course takes place one day per week (apart from some intensive news weeks) and is part-time over two years, with the aim of encouraging those from a wide range of domestic circumstances. There are also seven bursaries worth £1520 available.
