Phil Gayle is joining BBC Radio Oxford to present the station's breakfast show from next week.
He joins from neighbouring station BBC Berkshire where he was on afternoons. He'll be joined on Oxford breakfast by roving reporter Louisa Hannan.
Louisa will broadcast live out and about in Oxfordshire every day and we're told the show will carry improved travel news broadcasts from the studios in the city.
Louisa's mid-morning show will be taken over by curent breakfast presenter Malcolm Boden.
Phil started out as a DJ in commercial radio, working for stations including BRMB, Signal Radio and Rock FM, before working at BBC Radio Newcastle and LBC. He's perhaps most famous for his three years doing the news on Channel 4 TV show The Big Breakfast and a short stint as a contestant on Dancing On Ice.
BBC Oxford's Editor, Marianne Bell – who's recently joined from BBC Berkshire – said: "In the year that Radio Oxford celebrates its 40th birthday, I want to deliver more focus on localness, news and stories which reflect life for us living here in Oxfordshire. Localness, high-quality weather and travel news and our much-loved presenters are a key part of our success over the years and will continue to be at the heart of our programming in the future. Giving our presenters new shows to develop helps keep the station fresh and our sound engaging."
