Gold says sorry for 60s gaffe

Quasi-national AM oldies network Gold has apologised after telling four listeners they incorrectly identified one of the songs in the Six from the 60s competition.

The station has since corrected the the error and offered the £1000 prize to all four contestants.

A message on the Gold website, which has since been removed, said: "Four on-air contestants guessed Billy Fury 'Like I’ve Never Been Gone’ as one of the songs from our Six from the 60’s competition.

"We told those contestants that this was incorrect, which was not the case. Billy Fury’s 'Like I’ve Never Been Gone' is indeed the first song in the Six from the 60’s clip. It has been correctly identified by four contestants on air who will all be receiving the £1000 prizes for the correct answer."

It is not known if the complaint has made it to Ofcom, or if it was resolved within the station. Gold owner Global Radio had "nothing to add" when we contacted them.
