Northeast radio event planned

The next Radio Academy event is taking place in Newcastle on Thursday 10th February – questioning our relationship with radio.

"Are we still in love with local radio?", will be discussed by a panel of local radio managers from the BBC, community and commercial radio stations.

40 years after BBC Newcastle started broadcasting to our region and 6 weeks after Global Radio rolled out the new Capital FM network we pose the question are listeners and broadcasters still in love with local radio?… and what do we mean by local radio anyway? Is it about local voices? Where the studio is? Or something else? Does ‘local’ still matter?

On the panel so far are Peter Dixon, Station Manager, Radio Teesdale, Justin Kings, Metro Radio / Bauer Radio North East (chair), Mark Reason, Managing Director, Star North East and Andrew Robson, Managing Editor, BBC Newcastle.

Cost is £5 on the door and more details can be found [link=http://www.facebook.com/radioacademyne]here[/link].
