BBC political journalist Laura Kuenssberg and Manchester radio presenter Sam Walker are to co-host a new weekend show for 5 Live.
'Double Take' will start on Sunday mornings from the summer and look at the week's top news stories as well as preview the week ahead.
Laura is the BBC's chief political correspondent and a regular on the BBC News Channel as well as the main BBC One TV news bulletins. Sam combines her weekday afternoon show on Bauer station Key 103 with weekend shifts at BBC Radio Manchester (Saturday breakfast and Sunday night's BBC Introducing programme). She also co-hosted the main stage at last year's Radio Festival.
Double Take starts from July in the 9.30am Sunday morning slot. Ahead of that, from May, another new programme will fill the gap being left by current Sunday morning presenter Kate Silverton. 'We're All In This Together', hosted by 5 Live late night presenter Tony Livesey, will look at the impact of political issues on the UK.
Another new Sunday morning show, an hour-long topical comedy series 'The Back End Of Next Week', has been commissioned to run from May to October on the station 11am-12noon and will be hosted by Nick Hancock.
BBC Radio 5 Live controller Adrian Van Klaveren said: "I’m really excited that our new Sunday morning schedule will feature two of the country’s brightest upcoming presenters in Laura and Sam followed by Nick, who’s already well established as one of the best in the business."
