Hart and Holmes team up for 2

Comedians Miranda Hart and Jon Holmes are looking after evenings on Radio 2 this week to plug the gap before Jo Whiley starts.

Radcliffe and Maconie did their last show for the station last week ahead of their move to 6 Music, with Jo not taking over until next Monday.

Miranda and Jon did the 8-10pm slot last night with guest Stephen Fry and tonight they're joined by Will Young.

Miranda said: "I am full of childish excitement to have the honour of joining the wonderful, and my favourite, Radio 2, for a few nights. Can I call myself a, what I call, disc jockey, now?"

Jon added: "Miranda and I have been conducting a clandestine affair for many years, so what better way to announce our union than by becoming broadcasting's latest romantically linked couple after Richard and Judy, Radcliffe and Maconie and Bernie Winters and Schnorbitz."

Miranda's award-winning television show began life on Radio 2 as Miranda Hart's Jokeshop, a four part series broadcast in 2008. Jon is no stranger to radio of course, with a regular Saturday afternoon 6 Music Show and appearances on Radio 4's Now Show. And famously getting fired from both XFM and Virgin Radio.

Lewis Carnie, Head of Programmes at Radio 2, told us: "The opportunity to pair two of the UK's best loved comedy talents was irresistible to us and I'm very much looking forward to hearing their shows."
