New drama for Manx Radio

Isle of Man station Manx Radio has launched a drama series, which will run three times a week.

Glen Castle will air in episodes lasting two minutes at a time and has been produced by S2blue.

The drama follows the lives of the ‘Glen Castle’ community – a fictional village called Glen Castle based in the Isle of Man. The story is centred around The Harbourwall Hotel, where new landlords have moved in to renovate and re-invigorate the business. Storylines will follow the characters as they cope with the trials, tribulations and fun of everyday life on the Isle of Man.

Manx Radio’s Business Director, John Marsom told RadioToday.co.uk: “This is a first for Manx Radio and is a very exciting project for the station and the sponsor. After drafting up the initial concept we were really impressed with how quickly S2blue scripted the initial episodes and were bang on target with the vision.”

The omnibus edition will be podcast on the station website and the series will also be promoted through Facebook.

Simon Prentice, Managing Director of S2blue, said: “It’s a real first for S2blue – we’ve never undertaken anything like Glen Castle before and it’s been a lot of work setting it all up from scratch but we’re all enjoying working on it. The writers have had a lot of fun coming up with characters and there’s some really interesting storylines coming up over the year.”

There are over 20 actors involved – a mixture of Isle of Man residents and people in S2blue’s locality in Staffordshire.
