Brian Hayes to host ABC show

Former Radio 2 presenter Brian Hayes is to host a three hour Royal Wedding show for ABC Radio in Australia on April 29th, live from London.

The special show is just one of two new contracts to supply programming to new overseas customers won by UBC Media Group.

The programme will feature the ceremony and contributions from celebrity Australians living in the UK, hosted by Perth-born Brian.

The second contract recently won by UBC is to produce a nightly live programme on the RTE2 network for three weeks from May 30th as well as online video and interactive content. The ‘Exam Countdown’ programme, which helps Ireland’s teenagers get ready for the national Leaving Certificate and Junior Certificate exams, has been a regular feature of RTE’s output for many years. This is the first time it has been produced independently.

Simon Cole, Chief executive of UBC told RadioToday.co.uk: “We set ourselves a key strategy aim of broadening our customer base and expanding
internationally and these two deals show the first fruits of those efforts. Both contracts are for high-profile programmes and give us a chance to show our programme making expertise to new clients”.

Brian Hayes previously hosted the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show (prior to Terry Wogan), and was one of the first producers at Capital Radio in 1973 before joining LBC for 14 years.
