Heart North Wales MD dies

Tributes are being paid to the Managing Director of Heart in North Wales, Clive Douthwaite, who has died suddenly.

It's understood Clive – who's been in charge of the Wrexham-based Global station for four years – passed away last night (Sunday).

Chris Jones, Heart’s Regional Managing Director told RadioToday.co.uk: "Clive was a hugely admired and respected leader of Heart North West and North Wales and we are shocked and saddened by the news of his sudden death at the weekend. Our deepest sympathy is extended to the whole family, and our thoughts are specifically with his wife and children."

On Twitter, former Heart breakfast presenter [link=http://twitter.com/Nicksy]Nicksy[/link] wrote: "Sad news about my former Heart MD Clive Douthwaite passing away of a heart attack. Reminds us all of the effects of stress. RIP Matey!"

Station journalist [link=http://twitter.com/natasiamoore]Natasia Moore[/link] added: "Life is so short. My thoughts and prayers go to the family of heart's MD Clive Douthwaite who sadly passed away last night", while former news editor [link=http://twitter.com/AlinaCavanagh]Alina Cavanagh[/link] said he was "an amazing salesman, passionate about radio, the best M.D. you could wish for." BBC Stoke journalist [link=http://twitter.com/bbcdavid]David Grundy[/link], another former colleague from the Marcher stations, said: "Lost a boss, mentor and friend today. Commercial radio will be a poorer place without Clive Douthwaite."
