RadioCentre event lines up Ofcom boss

The CEO of broadcast regulator Ofcom will address representatives from across commercial radio at the annual RadioCentre Members’ Conference next month.

Ed Richards is one of two keynote speakers at the event on 6th July in central London and will talk about digital opportunities as well as the forthcoming Communications Bill.

The CEO of UK Music Feargal Sharkey – who spent a decade as a Member of the Radio Authority and later Ofcom – will also speak at the event and discuss the parallel and shared challenges facing the radio and music industries.

Other things on the agenda include a showcase of commercial radio stations’ social action campaigns, an update on Radioplayer a look at the emotional power of radio from representatives of the RAB.

Andrew Harrison, CEO of RadioCentre, told RadioToday.co.uk: “This year’s conference tackles some fundamental issues for our industry, in particular the forthcoming Communications Bill, as well as the symbiotic relationship between radio and the music industry, giving our members the chance to hear directly from the people making the policy.”

The conference is free to attend by anyone from a member station or company of RadioCentre, although places have to be booked. Those attending also qualify for a half-price ticket for the Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards taking place later the same evening at the same venue in Westminster. Find out more here.
