BBC Local Radio follows Olympic Dream

BBC Local Radio stations are to chart the highs and lows of local Olympic hopefuls as they train and prepare for selection in the year leading up to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Starting week of August 1st, BBC Local Radio Olympic Dreams will follow the hopefuls, selected from a variety of sport disciplines and locations throughout England.

The BBC wantsto bring Olympic competitors closer to their local communities allowing listeners to share in their dreams, ambitions, fears and achievements.

Catherine Hearne, West Midlands head of regional and local programming said: “The London Olympics will touch the lives of all of our audiences as we celebrate the biggest world event in our country in a generation. The BBC locally will be following the games’ hopefuls and their families every step of the way so you can keep up to date with their trials, tribulations and triumphs on our radio stations and websites.”
