Former Radio 1 chart show host Wes Butters is joining BBC Radio Leeds to present the mid-morning show four days a week.
Wes was most recently doing a weekend show across the Real Radio network, as well as being one of the regular continuity presenters on BBC Radio 4 Extra.
Wes takes over the morning show in Leeds from next Monday, replacing Adam Pope who has been covering the show since the departure of Alex Belfield earlier this year.
A spokesperson for the BBC told RadioToday.co.uk: “We can confirm that the new Mid Morning presenter on BBC Radio Leeds will be Wes Butters. A former presenter of the Chart Show on BBC Radio One, Wes currently works for BBC Radio 4 Extra and has made documentaries for BBC Radio 4. He will start his Mid Morning Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Monday, October 3 working from Monday-Thursday. Jake Yapp will present Fridays and Saturdays.”
Before joining Radio 1 in 2003, Wes worked at stations including Wave, Wish and Century in the North West and Galaxy in the North East. Since leaving the chart show in 2005, he’s been at Galaxy Manchester on breakfast and done cover at 6 Music before joining GMG’s Real Radio network alongside his work at Radio 7 (now 4 Extra) and as an author.
