Mercia breakfast puts together boy band

Mercia presenter JD is looking for four listeners to join him as he creates a boy band to release a Christmas charity single.

The Orion Media station is holding auditions next week for male performers aged 16 and over and a creative team already in place to work with the group once formed.

The single will be released to raise money for Coventry and Warwickshire children’s charity Snowball and it will also be performed at a local Christmas lights switch-on event.

We’re told a song has already been penned by the JD Show house band ‘Bass, Birds & Beats’, the choreographer and singing coach have been booked and Paul Moral will be recording and mixing the track.

Mercia breakfast presenter JD said: “I’m actually really nervous about this. It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do and once I’ve passed 30 next year I don’t think I’ll be able to justify being in a boy band. I can’t wait to see and work with some of the talented people we have here in Coventry and Warwickshire, and hopefully we’ll raise a lot of money to continue to support Snowball as well.”

Listeners can register for the auditions online.
