Radioplayer helps Absolute Radio online

Over 40% of listeners to Absolute Radio on Radioplayer came directly after listening to BBC stations during the month of August, the station has revealed.

And another 25% come from radio stations owned by Global Radio, including Heart, Capital and Classic FM.

In June, Absolute Radio revealed that listening through Radioplayer accounted for over half (53%) of the Absolute Radio Network’s 7.2m hours of online UK streaming. In August a snap-shot showed Radioplayer with 6.7 million unique browsers over the previous four weekly period.

Facebook also shows itself to be strong referrer to Absolute, with over 8%.

CEO Clive Dickens told us: “Absolute Radio is a fully committed partner and shareholder in Radioplayer and after six months of incredible consumer adoption we are now in a position to share Absolute Radioplayer console referral data with the industry. This data is helping us better understand real-time ‘station switching’ for the first time in Radio history. We encourage our radio colleagues to share equivalent ‘in-bound’ referrals in order to get a ‘full view’ of Radioplayer station switching. It would be great to know if we are sending more than we are receiving at the very least.”
