Heart launches radio appeal for ChildLine

Global Radio has announced details of its Have a Heart appeal for 2012, which will raise money for ChildLine.

The network of stations is encouraging listeners to relive their youth through the Be A Kid For A Kid campaign, which will culminate with an on-air appeal week in early March.

Heart listeners are being asked to do things like organise a school disco, run a cake sale or have a ‘guess the baby’ competition in the office to raise money for the stations’ supported charity.

During the week starting Monday 5th March, Heart presenters will be joined by showbiz guests and celebrities, showing their support on-air and encouraging listeners to donate money and bid for once-in-a-lifetime auction lots.

Dalton Leong, Managing Director of Have a Heart, said: “We’d love our 7.6 million* listeners to get involved in activities to support the Have a Heart Appeal. We’re aiming to raise funds for the recruitment, training and support of 140 new volunteer counsellors across the UK, enabling the charity to speak with an additional 33,600 children. This will enable us to make a big difference to the communities in which our Heart network of stations broadcast.”

Peter Liver, director of ChildLine services, said, “We’re delighted that Have a Heart has chosen ChildLine as the beneficiary for its 2012 Appeal. We really hope that Heart listeners get behind the appeal and ‘Be A Kid For A Kid’. The money raised by the Have a Heart Appeal will help us be there for children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn.”
