Digital station BBC 6Music has re-commissioned The Huey Show – presented by Fun Lovin’ Criminals singer Huey Morgan – for another two years.
The programme, produced independently by Wise Buddah, will now continue in the 1-4pm Sundays slot until 2014.
Wise Buddah say they will look to build on the show’s popularity by increasing the number of one-off music specials and inviting more big name guests into the studio.
Producer Tom Whalley said: “Listeners tend to tune in to The Huey Show while they’re cleaning, cooking or recovering from a night out and, as a result, it has become a firm fixture in people’s Sunday afternoons. In order to keep it that way, we’re going to give them more of the things that they love and the things that evoke the best reactions. This means more one-off specials, like the ‘All Vinyl’ show and the New York tribute show that went out on the 10th anniversary of 9/11, and even more high profile guests.”
Huey, who also does the midnight to 3am show on Friday night/Saturday morning on Radio 2, said: “It’s always a pleasure to work with my team at Wise Buddah on my 6Music Show. I’m thrilled that I’ll be continuing to build on the show’s success with their brilliant support.”
Wise Buddah head of content Simon Willis added: “As a radio producer you’re always looking for new ways to entertain through amazing talent and innovative formatting. We found both of those in Huey and The Huey Show. Wise Buddah is delighted at the success of the show and we’re looking forward to another two years of it on 6Music.”
