Zoe Ball is joining Bauer to host weekday afternoons on Greatest Hits Radio.
Zoe joined Ken Bruce on-air this morning to announce the move, with Zoe taking over Kate Thornton’s show from September 7th.
She’ll be sandwiched between her former BBC Radio 2 colleagues, Ken Bruce and Simon Mayo.
Zoe Ball in the Afternoon starts on Monday 7 September, marking Zoe’s first daily radio programme since leaving BBC Radio 2 Breakfast. The show will include guests, listener conversations and a Friday feature, Something for the Weekend.
Zoe said: “I’ve missed it and this felt like the right time to begin a new chapter with Greatest Hits Radio.”
Gary Stein, Director of Audio for Bauer Media Audio UK, said Zoe had chosen to join the station because of her connection with audiences and her interest in music.
Alongside the weekday show, Zoe will continue to co-host the Dig It podcast with Jo Whiley.
The schedule changes also include a new Saturday programme for Kate Thornton, who will remain on UK Pop 40 on Sundays. Claire Sturgess will present Greatest Hits Radio’s weekend Breakfast Show from 6am to 9am on Saturdays and Sundays.
Kate said: “Zoe’s an incredible signing, an incredible broadcaster and a good friend.”
Greatest Hits Radio Content Director, Andy Ashton, said: “I could not be more thrilled to welcome Zoe to the Greatest Hits Radio family. The whole team are buzzing that another world class broadcaster will be part of our daytime line-up every weekday.
“Zoe and the team are already working on the new show, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone. Roll on September 7th, and another huge moment for Greatest Hits Radio as the nation tunes in to hear Zoe hit play on her first song!”
