Radio 1 goes to Hull for live events

BBC Radio 1 is taking its DJs to Hull for four days of live music events in the city later this month.

Zane Lowe made the announcement on this morning’s breakfast show at the end of New Music Week on the station.

The free ticketed events will feature live performances from up and coming new bands and artists – as well as DJ sets from Radio 1 presenters Pete Tong, Chuckie, Fedde Le Grande, Porter Robinson and Judge Jules.

Presenters from Radio 1 and 1Xtra including Nick Grimshaw, Annie Mac, Trevor Nelson, Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens will also be in town to host a series of special shows from Thursday 26th to Sunday 29th January.

Nick Grimshaw said: “I’m really excited to be taking the show up north. We’ll be packing loads of exciting new music into our Radio 1 road trip and my show will be full of guests, comedy and music. It’s gonna be good!”

We’re looking forward to celebrating the city’s thriving new music scene with a series of special free events from the city’s best bars, clubs and venues – its going to be big!”

Thursday 26th January

7 – 10pm: Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens broadcast live from the legendary Adelphi, Hull. Featuring live performances from Pulled Apart By Horses.

10pm – 12 midnight: Nick Grimshaw broadcasts live from Fruit, Hull. Guests include Youngman and special guests from the world of music, cabaret and comedy.

Friday 27th January

7-9pm: Annie Mac broadcasts live from Fruit, Hull. Under 18’s event exclusively for 13-17 year olds. Guests include Redlight, Jack Beats and Joker.

9-11pm: Pete Tong broadcasts live from Hull City Hall. Special guests include Julio Bashmore, Madeon and Groove Armada presents Redlight.

11pm – 3am: A special extended Essential Mix broadcast live from Hull City Hall. Featuring DJ sets from Chuckie, Fedde Le Grande, Porter Robinson and Judge Jules.

Saturday 28th January 2012

4-7pm: Ace and Vis broadcast live from a location in Hull. Broadcast on BBC Radio 1Xtra.

7-9pm: Trevor Nelson and DJ Target broadcast live from the Asylum, Hull University. Featuring a live performance from Emeli Sande. Simulcast on BBC Radio 1 & BBC Radio 1Xtra.

9pm – 1am: MistaJam broadcasts live from Hull University. Featuring performances from Sub Focus, Knife Party, DJ Fresh, Jakwob and Hudson Mohawke. Simulcast on BBC Radio 1 & BBC Radio 1Xtra.

Sunday 29th January

9-10pm: Aled & Gemma broadcast live from Hull University with a Surgery special simulcast on BBC Radio 1 & BBC Radio 1Xtra.
