Tickets available for free radio training

Tickets are available from this morning for the BBC Academy and Skillset’s free Radio Fast Train session in London next month.

The event on 7th February is aimed at people working in independent production companies and community radio as well as freelancers and will cover the themes of ideas, technology, skills and business.

Hosted by the BBC Academy in partnership with Skillset, Radio Fast Train is being produced together with The Radio Academy, Radio Independents Group, RadioCentre, and the Community Media Association.

Tim Davie, Director Audio and Music, said: “This is a great opportunity for programme makers across the radio sector to learn and get inspired by the creativity of others.”

Skillset’s Executive Director, Kate O’Connor, added: “As the radio industry evolves with digital technology, so too do the skills needed to work in it. We are delighted to be working in partnership with the BBC to run Radio Fast Train. This will give our industry the chance to access some of the best training available, absolutely free.”

Sessions will range from creative thinking, pitching workshops, microphone techniques and location recording, live studio production, editorial values, social media, how to make apps, podcasting, to finance for freelancers and coaching one-to-ones.

Find out more and book a place on the BBC Academy website.
