The event, which is free apart from a ticket booking fee of £2.50, will also bring Deadmau5, Ed Sheeran, Dappy, Lana Del Rey, Chase & Status, Tinie Tempah, Plan B, Leona Lewis and Florence & The Machine to the capital.

Over 100 UK and international artists performing on six BBC stages including the Radio 1 Main Stage, Radio 1Xtra Arena, Dance Arena, In New Music We Trust Stage and the BBC Introducing Stage.

Listeners started registering their interest to attend the event on the Radio 1 website from 8:15am today. The majority of tickets will be reserved for those from Hackney and the other five Olympic boroughs, with allocation on a first-come, first-served basis.

Jason Carter, Event Director, Radio 1 2012 says: “This event will be a massive celebration in such a special year for us all. This is a concert in the heart of East London, and we will use it as an opportunity to celebrate the young people of East London too. It’s great that some of the area’s finest musical talents are already confirmed to play as well as some of the biggest UK and international artists. We expect the demand for tickets to be extremely high, and there will be more fantastic artists announced to the line-up in the coming weeks and months.”

This special event is being produced in partnership with Hackney Council.
