Eight directors quit radio station board

Eight directors of a community radio station have resigned from the station’s board, after being told they were due to be removed.

One of the outgoing directors ousted at Vibe 107.6 in Watford is former Tindle Radio Group Brand Director David Rees.

The remaining director, Matt Cadman, who founded the original concept of the radio station in 2006 said: “We don’t want a big board of directors, we want a small board to manage the station but an active steering group that includes representatives from all parts of the community to help guide and prioritise the station.”

Geoff Ward, the sole member of the organisation, wanted to bring the station back to its original aims. He told RadioToday.co.uk: “I was unhappy with the way the station was being run and there have been certain irregularities in the running of the company I wanted corrected.”

Gavin Harris was re-appointed as a Director of the station, meaning it now has two directors and dozens of volunteers. The list of directors who have resigned are:

Philip Cannon
Tina Barnard
David McNeil
Cheryl Green
Marianne Rees
Mark Watkin
Pamela Palma

Vibe’s key commitments with Ofcom include working with youth agencies in the Watford area, providing a training programme to encourage young people to volunteer, learn key skills and help promote local services and talent to young people in Watford.
