Former BBC Radio 1 presenters Tony Blackburn and Mike Read are joining Bauer’s network of Magic stations in the north.
They’ll join DLT for a new weekend line-up, with all three of them hosting one show each from April 1st.
Mike Read will take the reins of weekend breakfast 7-10am (except in Yorkshire), followed by DLT on mid-mornings 10am-1pm. The Tony Blackburn Show can be heard on Sunday afternoons from 4-7pm.
Cath Ellington, Managing Director, Magic Network North, told RadioToday.co.uk: “These are three of radio’s biggest and most respected broadcasters. Their personalities and passion for great music from the 60s and 70s means they are the perfect match for Magic. Most of our listeners will have an immediate connection with Mike Read and Tony Blackburn having grown up listening to them. DLT has already built a loyal audience during the last few years so working together is great news for our advertisers and listeners.”
Tony Blackburn left Smooth Radio’s weekend breakfast show in 2010 because of a conflict of interest, after being offered a regular weekend show at BBC Radio 2. DLT has been with the network since 2006.
