BBC Radio 1 has announced Rihanna as the headline act for the second day of the station’s Hackney Weekend in June.
She joins Jay-Z who is the top artist on the Saturday 24th June, and others including Tine Tempah, Jessie J, Ed Sheeran, Florence and the Machine, Professor Green and Leona Lewis.
The Hackney Weekend on 23 and 24th June takes place on East London’s Hackney Marshes and is part of the London 2012 Festival. It’s taking place instead of Radio 1’s Big Weekend this year, which normally happens in May.
Registration for the 100,000 free tickets has now closed but those who have registered can apply online for tickets tomorrow (Sunday) or Monday via the Radio 1 website. The majority of tickets are reserved for people living in Hackney and nearby boroughs of the capital and allocation is on a first-come, first-served basis during the application periods this year instead of being via a ballot.
