Sony Award nominations out next Friday

The shortlists for this year’s Sony Radio Academy Awards are to be announced in a special lunchtime webcast a week on Friday.

Capital FM London breakfast presenters Dave Berry and Lisa Snowdon will host the announcement, which will be streamed via the awards’ website.

The webcast will air via www.radioacademyawards.org on Friday 30th March at 1.30pm. In previous years, nominations have been announced at an evening event in London.

John Myers, Chief Executive of The Radio Academy and Chairman of the Sony Organising Committee said: “The 2012 nominations will kickstart the excitement and the new live webcast, headed by Capital FM’s Dave Berry and Lisa Snowdon, will give the whole industry a chance to tune in at the same time to find out who this year’s contenders are.”

Five shortlisted entrants will be revealed in each of the 30 plus Sony Award categories next week, with the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners announced at the main ceremony on Monday 14th May at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London as usual. The awards dinner will once again be hosted by Radio 2 breakfast presenter Chris Evans.

John Myers said: “The Sony Radio Academy Awards is the only event that brings the entire industry together and planning is already wellunderway to ensure that this year’s ceremony is an extra special celebration to mark the 30th anniversary.”
