Jazz FM goes ad free for Bank Holiday

Digital station Jazz FM is to run a whole day of programmes without advert breaks, as it teams up with a sponsor for the day.

It’s partnered with tour operator Journey Latin America, whose messages will air during 16-hours of programming about Latin American music and culture.

The best of Latin American jazz, soul and bossa nova will feature on Bank Holiday Monday, 7th May, along with features about cocktails, food and tourist attractions, for a special called La Fiesta Latina.

We’re told there will be no traditional advertising throughout the day, but there will be sponsored messages from Journey Latin America, and other ‘carefully selected partners’. Listeners will also have the chance to win a holiday to Cuba worth £6,000.

Jazz FM Programme Controller, Mike Vitti, says: “This will be the first time that Jazz FM has completely altered the output in favour of one genre of music and it seems just the right thing to do for a May Bank Holiday. The music featured will be a mix of Latin infused cuts from Cuba, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru and of course Brazil. We may even add some European flavours into the mix too. The Jazz FM presenters and producers are very excited about this project and it seems they simply can’t wait to Samba.”

Jazz FM Director of Sales, Jo Coltman, says: “Our listeners are avid travellers, and the La Fiesta Latina line up this May Bank Holiday is a wonderful opportunity to give them something special – a whole day where they can immerse themselves in the sounds, sights and tastes of Latin America.”
