And now.. a radio show about the radio

Trevor Dann and John Ryan have teamed up to produce a special programme on 5 live all about radio.

The three hour show, which will air on Bank Holiday Monday* will chat with the oldest and youngest presenters, visit the UK’s smallest station and showcase new voices and talent in the growing podcast industry.

It’ll be hosted by podcasters Helen Zaltzman and Olly Mann on BBC Radio 5 live between 1 and 4pm.

Jonathan Wall Deputy Controller of BBC Radio 5 live says: “Helen and Olly are reknowned for finding the creative, innovative and the down -right surprising from across radio and the download world. Required Listening brings a selection of the best from across the globe. It’s a great celebration of radio in all its forms.”

On the programme we’ll hear from foodies like The Hungry Cyclist and cakeordeathcooking. We’ll meet the fanatics behind the Flaps Podcast (it’s for pilots) and 99% Invisible (it’s about design). And we’ll find out why nerds are cool from Girlgeeks.com.

There’ll be an investigation of partisan football sites including Arsenal’s Arsecast and Bradford City’s Bantams Banter. We’ll meet the whistleblowing air hostess who calls herself Betty In The Sky With A Suitcase and we’ll enjoy dozens of other examples of creative radio from all over the cyberspace.
