Absolute Radio goes all-British all-day

To celebrate the Team GB parade in London, all Absolute stations are switching to a Team GB Guarantee from 10am till 5pm.

“We’ve decided to celebrate the success of Team GB and ParalympicsGB with a day of special music, programmes and live outside broadcasts to coincide with the ‘Our Greatest Team Athletes Parade’ in London,” the station says.

Out goes the ‘No Repeat Guarantee’ and in comes the ‘Team GB Guarantee’ with only British acts being played between 10am and 5pm to mark the achievements of British Olympians and Paralympians.

The British-only music policy will feature across Absolute Radio as well as the Network – Absolute Radio 60s, Absolute Radio 70s, Absolute 80s, Absolute Radio 90s, Absolute Radio 00s and Absolute Classic Rock.

Alongside the music, the Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show broadcast live from a purpose built studio at the foot of Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar Square this morning, featuring special celebrity guests and Olympians. From midday Andy Bush will feature updates from news reporters stationed at key points along the route.

To close the day, from 9pm there will be another chance to enjoy Coldplay Live at the Emirates on Absolute Radio just hours after their performance at the Paralympics Closing Ceremony last night.
