Real and Smooth staff climb Three Peaks

Manchester-based staff at Real Radio, Real Radio XS and Smooth Radio have climbed the the highest mountains in England, Wales and Scotland in just two days for charity.

The fund raising event was part of a bigger aim to raise money for the radio stations’ Help for Heroes Day which takes place this Friday, 28th September.

The team of 10, led by Managing Director Michael McIntyre and including Real XS drivetime host Moose, took on the Three Peaks Challenge to scale Mount Snowdon, Scafel Pike and Ben Nevis.

The climbers – Moose, Laura Mather, Joanne Carr, Seema Ahmad, Dan Hough, Tristan Welch, Joe Hindley, Lizzy Holroyd and Sarah Poole and Michael McIntyre – raised thousands of pounds towards Help for Heroes Day, which is the fourth year of fundraising by the radio stations for the charity which helps wounded soldiers.

The 4th Help for Heroes Day starts at 6am on Friday with celebrity interviews and performances from guests including Dave Stewart, Leona Lewis, Rebecca Ferguson, Mick Hucknall, The Overtones, The Military Wives, Lorraine Kelly and comedian Lee Mack, inspiring stories from soldiers and their families and a fantastic auction where listeners can bid for money can’t buy experiences and items such as X-Factor Final tickets and signed memorabilia.
