Absolute takes football to FM in London

Absolute Radio is to broadcast live Barclays Premier League commentary on its London 105.8 FM license for the first time.

This Satuday, the station will broadcast Reading FC versus Fulham FC in full FM quality with commentary from Jim Proudfoot.

It is being billed as a one-off event for the London and the South East audience to hear the game at 3pm and showcase the programme that is normally heard on 1215AM and on the station’s digital platforms.

As part of its Rock N Roll Football brand, Absolute Radio has the rights to broadcast live commentary from 32 Barclays Premier League matches at 3:00pm every Saturday on 1215AM, digital radio, online or on a free live scores app on mobile platforms – this weekend’s game is a special opportunity to hear a game live on 105.8 FM.

The Rock N Roll Football Show kicks off at 1.30pm on Saturday afternoon with pre-match build up with Russ Williams, followed by commentary at 3pm from Jim Proudfoot, who hands over the baton to former England striker and Arsenal legend Ian Wright at 5pm for post-match analysis, music and guests.

Absolute Radio’s Head of Presentation Paul Sylvester said, “It’s great that we’re able to bring live Barclays Premier League commentary to our listeners who live in London and the South-East on 105.8FM. Ian’s Wright’s Rock ‘N’ Roll Football is the best in the business and this is another opportunity for us to showcase it to our audience.”
