GLOBAL: LBC on a high, Capital slips to 2nd

Global Radio’s LBC has recorded its highest listening figure since 1994 as 1.17 million people tune in each week across the country.

Breakfast presenter Nick Ferrari attracts over half a million listeners – representing an increase quarter on quarter and year on year.

Around the group, Capital London loses reach and slips to second place commercially behind Magic 105.4, whilst Heart gains listeners but slips down to 4th place behind Kiss – based on reach.

Capital Breakfast with Dave Berry & Lisa Snowdon achieved higher listener numbers than Chris Moyles in his final quarter. The show is the most popular commercial breakfast in London in reach with 1.17 million listeners each week.

The Heart network has 7.34 million listeners tuning in each week across the UK, holding the same reach percentage as this time last quarter (14%).

XFM London and Choice have both had a bad set, down quarterly and yearly. Gold is also down year on year.

Classic FM has 5.45 million listeners tuning in each week, down slightly quarter on quarter but an increase of 62,000 since the same time last year.

Ashley Tabor, Founder & Executive President said: “It’s great to see our new breakfast show at 95.8 Capital FM in London performing so well, beating Moyles even in his final quarter. This success has also been mirrored by some great breakfast performances on Global stations across the country.”

Richard Park, Director of Broadcasting at Global Radio said: “These are a solid set of results for our Heart and Capital networks, which have continued to perform throughout a busy British Summer.”
