Murray Norton is returning to BBC Radio Jersey after six years off-air, as part of a new weekday programme schedule for the Autumn.
He’ll be hosting a new weekday Monday-Friday, 9am-12noon programme, whilst the rest of the daytime line-up moves forward in the schedule, with drivetime presenter Simon Jupp ending his daily show but continuing at the station.
“I’m so excited. It’s like going home after a long journey,” said Murray. “I’m really looking forward to re-joining the BBC weekday team and playing some cracking music. I’ve been away for a while, but it’s great to be coming back.
“My new show starts as the clocks go back for the winter. I’m really looking forward to it.”
BBC Managing Editor Jon Gripton told RadioToday.co.uk: “Everyone knows Murray, and there’s no doubt he’s the island’s best music broadcaster. I’ve been asking for months and I’m thrilled he’s finally said yes to a weekday show back on the BBC.”
Murray first joined BBC Radio Jersey more than 28 years ago, in February 1984, and presented weekday shows until 2006.
Here’s how the new weekday schedule will look:
0600 Alice Godden
0700 Breakfast with Matthew Price
0900 Murray Norton
1200 Carrie & Sara
1500 Kevin Pamplin
1800 The Jersey Jukebox
1900 Duncan Warren
2200 Vic Morgan
