Three football legends reunite on Star

The Three Legends will be reunited on the radio this evening for the first time since they left Real Radio North East in the summer.

Malcolm Macdonald and Micky Horswill join Bernie Slaven in Star’s Darlington studios for the show, on-air from 6pm till 8pm.

Malcolm and Micky were unable to join Bernie Slaven, who has been broadcasting alone on Star North East, due to contract terms with Real Radio, but following a special event on Sunday the three will be reunited for the first time.

“I’m delighted to have the guys back, it’s long overdue,” says Bernie. “Fans can look forward to some forthright opinions, honesty, banter and no propaganda. Our show has stood the test of time because we’re honest and we speak from the heart. For 13 years we had some of the best listening figures around often beating the breakfast show!”

Micky Horswill agrees, saying: “There will be a lot to say on Monday as we have a few months to catch up on and it will be great to be back with the guys again on air. People in the North East are passionate and want this sort of local content on their radios, not just mundane blurb coming from London”

Mark Reason, Managing Director of Star Radio North East, said “Football is enormously important in the North East and brings people from all walks of life together. UKRD stations are committed to their local communities so it was only natural that Star North East was able to support them and give the Legends a vehicle for their legendary banter and expert analysis of our local teams. We expect Monday’s show to be unmissable as there’s going to be some serious straight talking after three months apart and, I dare say, a fair amount of dirt to be dished.”
