Michael Buble launches Christmas on Heart

Heart has started playing Christmas songs – with Radio Today sources suggesting the network played its first festive song as early as Bonfire night, November 5th.

The network officially launched Christmas yesterday on the station with two hours of live radio presented by singer Michael Buble and Emma Bunton, although Christmas songs have been in rotation since November 16th.

Michael agreed to host the show after Global Radio’s Director of Broadcasting Richard Park put a personal call into him to ask if he would do the show live.

Michael took calls live from listeners and responded to texts, emails and tweets, revealed what’s he up to over the festive season, and played tracks from his Christmas album.

Richard Park commented: “I have known Michael for a long time and not only is he a massive musical talent, but has a personality to match, so I am delighted that we can bring him – truly live – to Heart’s 7.4 million listeners to launch Christmas on the station in style.”

Heart is going through some schedule changes at the moment, with Roberto new to evenings, plus Drivetime’s Neil Bentley & Breakfast co-host Harriet Scott leaving the station. Replacements are expected to be announced shortly.
