A north-east butcher has created a Metro Radio Breakfast Banger after hearing breakfast presenters Steve and Karen talk about British Sausage Week.
Dicksons the Butchers heard the output then invited the team into their South Shields factory to create their own sausage. They are now on sale in 22 shops in the region, made to a pork, bacon, tomato and black pudding recipe.
“Both Karen and I love a good-tasting sausage and when we happened to mention that sausage week was just round the corner, we quickly got a call from Dicksons asking if we would like to create our own sausage with some of the master sausage makers at Dicksons.
“It’s not every day you get that kind of offer so of course we jumped at the chance!
Karen continued: “I can’t believe a throw away comment has resulted in us creating a pack of sausages with our names on which will actually be going on sale.”
Dicksons will also be donating £1000 to Metro Radio’s Cash for Kids charity as a result of the unlikely partnership.
