Sun FM’s managing director set to retire

Sun FM’s managing director Helen Edmondson is to retire next year after many years at the helm of the UKRD owned station.

Helen is set to take a break from the local radio sector after a long career. She said that she would be saddened to go when the time comes but had enjoyed her time at Sun FM enormously. “I have been really lucky to work with a great bunch of people and my years with UKRD have been an absolute pleasure. It’s a great place to work and I have been privileged to work with so many fantastic people.”

UKRD’s Chief Executive Officer, William Rogers, said that he was grateful to Helen for her “tremendous loyalty and commitment to Sun FM, its team there as well as UKRD more widely. She’s the type of larger than life, wonderful character that we will certainly miss.

“She will be keeping her hands firmly on the tiller until early next year,” said Rogers.

Helen added: “Sometimes, it is better to go when things are doing well and you can leave and retire with your head held high. This is a wonderful industry and I’m sure I’ll miss it but I will always be taking a firm interest in the progress of Sun FM and UKRD too.”
