2DayFM suspends advertising indefinitely

Owners of 2DayFM Austereo has suspended all advertising on the station after discussions were held with with sponsors.

It follows backlash about the royal phone call prank from Tuesday and the death of the nurse who answered the call.

CEO Ryhs Hollerman said the company was very confident the station had not done anything illegal, and said that all at the station were “deeply saddened”, adding that what had happened was “incredibly tragic”.

Adverts on the station stopped from Saturday afternoon (Australian time).

The station had earlier lost support from companies Telstra and Coles, while other companies including Woolworths and Optus were reportedly considering withdrawing their adverts from the station.
