Former Radio 1 DJ Ras Kwame joins Choice

Global Radio has signed former Radio 1 and 1 Xtra DJ Ras Kwame to host a Sunday show on Choice, featuring up-and-coming homegrown talent.

Ras started his show on Sunday 30th December, and aims to play some of the biggest names from the UK’s hip-hop and R&B scene.

The Urban Music DJ started his career as a club DJ in the early 90s, moving on to promote events Starlight Club and Subterranea Club and has created a number of party anthems including ‘Over Here’ featuring Ritchie Dan and ‘Bump and Grind’ featuring Lady Saw.

Before his first show, Ras said: “I’ve always loved listening to Choice and can’t wait to get started on the station to continue supporting the wealth of amazing homegrown talent the UK has to offer. Make sure you all tune in.”

Managing Editor of Choice, Stuart Grant added: “Choice is renowned for breaking new artists. In the past, we’ve been the first to support and play the likes of Wretch 32 and Tinie Tempah, so to have Ras Kwame join us to bring more of the best musical talent from around the country, is a show I cannot wait for our listeners to hear.”

Meanwhile Choice DJ Max Akhtar is joining Capital for a new Sunday evening 7-10pm show from January 13th 2013.
