Television presenter Aled Jones is joining Classic FM to host a new Sunday morning show, prompting a weekend schedule shuffle at the station.
His new show, Sundays 9am till midday, will see the ITV morning programme co-host play some of his personal favourites, and join other high profile presenters and musicians including John Suchet, Alan Titchmarsh, Myleene Klass and Nicholas Owen.
Last year he left BBC Radio 2 where he hosted Good Morning Sunday for six years. The BBC said he’ll continue to host radio projects for the corporation. Clare Balding took over the show in January.
As part of the weekend line-up on Classic FM, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen moves to Sunday lunchtimes midday to 3pm, Jamie Crick becomes the new voice of Saturday afternoons 3pm to 5pm, while Anne-Marie Minhall is the new host of weekend Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday.
Aled Jones said: “I am so delighted to be joining the top team at Classic FM. Sunday radio is in my heart and I can’t wait to be at the helm of their flagship weekend programme. I’ll be playing some of my favourite music as well as some of yours so come and be part of it from the beginning of March. It really does feel like I’ve come home – so why don’t you wake up with me every Sunday on Classic FM?”
Global Radio’s Director of Broadcasting Richard Park said: “Aled is a first class broadcaster and this, alongside his outstanding classical music pedigree, makes him a very welcome new member of the Classic FM family.”
