Ex BBC DG Greg Dyke appointed FA chairman

From DG to FA – former BBC Director General Greg Dyke has been named as the new chairman of the Football Association.

Dyke will stand down from his position as Brentford chairman and replace David Bernstein in July.

He was DG of the BBC from January 2000 until 29 January 2004, when he resigned following heavy criticism of the BBC’s news reporting process in the Hutton Inquiry.

“Football has always been a big part of my life whether playing 11-a-side on Sunday mornings or six-a-side on Thursday evenings,” Dyke said.
