Heart raises over £200,000 for children
The Heart network’s Have a Heart campaign has raised £202,967 during its appeal to make seriously ill children’s wishes come true.
This means that during the last year, listeners have donated more than half a million pounds to help disadvantaged children in the communities to which Heart broadcasts.
The Have a Heart Appeal, which has involved every local Heart region in the network, culminated in a fundraising extravaganza on Friday with a host of celebrities lending their support.
Jude Law, Nicole Scherzinger, The Wanted, Lawson, The Saturdays, Alan Carr, Geri Halliwell, Louis Smith, Amelia Lily, Warwick Davis, Beth Tweddle, Rylan Clark and Jon Culshaw all got involved, alongside Heart presenters such as Stephen Mulhern, Mark Wright, Toby Anstis, Margherita Taylor and Emma Bunton.
The wishes will be granted by three charities supported by the Have a Heart Appeal: Starlight Children’s Foundation, Make-a-Wish Foundation® UK and Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity.
Heart presenter Stephen Mulhern said: “The £202,967 will enable Have a Heart to grant hundreds of wishes to seriously ill children across the UK – it will make a real difference to their lives. We’d like to say a massive thank you to all our listeners and guests for being so generous and making the Have a Heart Appeal such a success.”
