Former BBC Radio Devon and Radio Plymouth presenter Douglas Mounce has died at the age of 65 following a year long batter with cancer.
He worked at the BBC station for almost 30 years presenting many shows including the Treasure Hunt on a Sunday and was also known locally for his pantomime appearances.
BBC Devon Editor Mark Grinnell paid tribute: “He was a big personality, full of zest for life. He could turn any conversation into one that was full of double entendres.
“I remember listening to him on Radio Devon long before I joined the station. He used to do a quiz every morning, which was just a vehicle for him to have fun with the listeners. That’s how I remember him.”
He also appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night and hosted a number of television commercials.
In 2010 he spent eight months at Plymouth’s commercial radio station, Radio Plymouth.
