Free Radio set to leave Tettenhall Road

Free Radio office workers based in Wolverhampton are re-locating to Birmingham, whilst a new local home is found for presenters.

In a memo to staff, management for the Shropshire & the Black Country service says a new purpose-built premises within the Black Country will be better suited to the needs of a 21st Century radio station than the current building which is showing the signs of age.

All programmes which currently originate from within the area will continue to be so. Owners Orion Media currently deliver more locally-originated programmes than required by Ofcom, and tell us they have no plans to change that.

Free Radio Shropshire & Black Country, previously known as Beacon Radio, launched originally in Wolverhampton in 1976 and has been based at 267 Tettenhall Road ever since.
