Moggys and Froggies unite for Animal DAB

A new national radio station is to launch later today on Digital One, featuring specialist music and animals as presenters.

The station will be operated by an yet un-named company but a RadioToday source simply known as ‘Pug’ confirms the station was inspired by Kerrang! Radio hiring a Rock Dog to host a weekly show.

animaldabInfact, Rock Dog’s Sunday night show will be simulcast on the station from Kerrang!’s studios in Birmingham.

The station will play specialist music, all of which will be hosted by different animals. Along with Rock Dog’s show, there’ll be Cat Country each Tuesday at 7, Oyster Oldies every night at 10 and Fishy Folk on a weekend along with Pig Pop, Moggy Modern, Rabbit R&B, Hamster House, Squid Soul and Sheep Salsa making to the schedule.

Spokesperson Jack Russell told RadioToday the station won’t have adverts, but rely on sponsorship and promotional deals instead: “We have lots deals in place. We’re also talking to a popular price comparison website at the moment with a view to sponsoring our Meerkat Musicals hour, presented by two Meerkats who specialise in music from the stage.”

When asked about the backers of the project, Jack told us: “Woof”.

Update: Maybe one day, but not today! Happy April 1st!!
