Notorious time at first Heart in the Park

Singer Nile Rodgers was joined on stage by Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon to sing Notorious after a special duet was suggested by Heart’s JK & Lucy.

When the drivetime presenters interviewed Nile a few weeks ago, he revealed that Simon Le Bon was going along to Heart in the Park and that he was going to pay homage to the Duran Duran singer by playing their 1986 song ‘Notorious’, produced by Nile.

During the interview, JK asked Nile: “Are you going to get him on stage? Simon, if you’re listening, we urge you to go on stage. It would be like the moment of the summer.” Nile replied: “I’ll ask him to do it.”

Backstage, Heart’s Margherita Taylor interviewed Nile and asked him about his set list. He revealed: “The good thing is that when I was on the station, JK & Lucy suggested that Simon Le Bon come down and join us and he’s going to do it. He’s going to show up! I can’t wait to see what it sounds like. We’ve had no rehearsal or nothing!”

And after the gig, Nile said: “Yo, JK & Lucy. I said I would get Simon Le Bon stage and I did it!”

JK & Lucy told RadioToday: “It was amazing to have been part of Heart in the Park and introducing Jennifer Lopez was a massive highlight for us both. Plus watching Nile Rodgers & Chic perform ‘Notorious’ with Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon was fantastic.

“We couldn’t believe that after chatting with Nile in the Heart studio the other week, he messaged Simon to invite him to join him, that it would really happen! We feel privileged to have played a small part in making that collaboration take place!”

Heart in the Park also featured singers Lionel Richie, Jennifer Lopez and Chic amongst others.
