Ex-Bauer presenters join community station

Three presenters who hosted shows on West Sound, including breakfast presenter Kenny Campbell, are joining a new community radio station in Irvine.

Irvine Beat FM has also attracted former country and western DJ Tommy Truesdale and talk show host Peter Lockhart.

The presenters won’t get paid with it being a community radio station but they’re all ready to go from August 12th on 107.2FM.

The station says: “Kenny was the longest serving breakfast show host in Britain, Tommy was Westsound’s longest serving presenter, playing country and rock and roll music and Peter hosted the Talk In Sunday show.”

West Sound cut all local programmes on AM last month, hiring Robin Galloway to host a new networked breakfast show across Bauer stations in Scotland.

The Daily Record reports there are now eight former West Sound presenters involved with the station, including station director Jack Bennie who left in 2009 after five years on the lunch-time show.
