Myers makes £10k for charity selling book

John Myers’ autobiography Team, It’s Only Radio is set to benefit three charities, each getting a share of ten thousand pounds.

John is donating profits from the book to the Radio Academy, organisers of The Radio Festival and Radio Academy Awards, Radio Tyneside, where he is currently the Chair and The British Lung Foundation, in memory of John’s mother.

He’s also hinted at writing a follow-up.

John told RadioToday: “Most authors don’t make a bean from writing a book, so it’s particularly pleasing to be able to donate some money to these worthwhile causes. I loved putting it together and the feedback and reviews were excellent. It’s thanks to those who have bought it that has made this contribution posible.”

The book, published in October last year, tells the story of John’s 30 years in the media. From BBC Radio Cumbria to presenting, producing, managing, owning and running some of the biggest radio stations in the UK.

The autobiography also revealed the deals behind the deals, how competitions were won, his Government and BBC reports alongside some of the funniest radio stories to date.

Jeremy Vine penned the foreword and it is still available via myersmedia.co.uk or digitally via amazon or itunes.

John added: “I’ve been asked to write another one. There are lots of stories I forgot to put in to the first one or they were cut because of space. I will see how much time I have over the coming months.”
