Radio Academy NE event to look at music

The latest Radio Academy North East Branch event will look at the importance of music within a radio station, with special guests.

John Simons, Group Programme Director of Real & Smooth Limited will host the panel consisting of Mark Findlay, Group Head of Live Music at Global Radio, Tony Myers, Regional Promotions at Polydor Records and Jeff Smith, Head of Music for BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music.

Event organiser Jon Kirby told RadioToday: “Following on from our successful series of events focusing on the North East breakfast marketplace, we really wanted to attract some big national names to the Radio Academy in the North East.

Radio 2s Jeff Smith, Globals Mark Findlay and Polydor Records Tony Myers are among the biggest names in the business when it comes to the music we hear on our radio stations, and with John Simons at the helm this promises to be a lively debate. Everyone has an opinion on music so I imagine the Q&A session will be particularly tasty.”

It’s taking place on Thursday 12th September 2013 6pm till 9pm at Newcastle College Space Bar, Rye Hill Campus, Scotswood Road Newcastle upon Tyne.

Registration is required and the event is free for Radio Academy members.
