Annie and Jon return to Radio 2 for Xmas

Annie Nightingale and Jon Holmes are back on BBC Radio 2 next month as part of the Christmas schedule, just announced.

Jon – now hosting the daily breakfast show on Global’s Xfm – will again partner with comedienne Miranda Hart to cover for Steve Wright, while Annie hosts a show on the evening of New Year’s Day, taking listeners on a journey through seven decades of music from the 1950s to 2014.

Robbie Williams makes his presenting debut on Radio 2, covering for Dermot O’Leary on Saturday 21st December, and there’s a festive Sounds Of The 20th Century spin-off on 23rd December, featuring two hours of Christmas music and news from the season between 1951 and 2000.

French and Saunders are back as well – doing the lunchtime slot on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day. On Boxing Day, they’ll be preceded by Dame Edna Everage.

Lewis Carnie, Head of Programmes for Radio 2, says: “BBC Radio 2 this Christmas features a dazzling array of some of the biggest stars you’ll find anywhere this festive season. It’s a feast of fantastic programmes presented by a star-studded line-up including Robbie Williams, Glee’s Matthew Morrison, Australian super-star Dame Edna Everage, comedy legends French & Saunders, Hollywood actor Michael Sheen and a whole host of others. They will be the perfect accompaniment to the nation’s celebrations.”
