Sunrise brand extends to Buzz and Kismat

It’s reported that Buzz Radio and Kismat Radio are to be rebranded as Sunrise Radio 2 and Sunrise Radio 3 from next month.

BizAsia says it has confirmed details of the change from 1st December, adding that production for the stations will be relocated from west London to India to save costs and improve quality.

The report says music policy will stay the same on each station with Sunrise Radio 1 (Sunrise Radio) specialising in a mixture of latest and adult contemporary hits; Sunrise Radio 2 (Buzz Radio) playing youthful hit music; and Sunrise Radio 3 (Kismat Radio) catering for old and regional language music.

Sunrise has been going since 1989, while Kismat launched as a talk station in 2005. The Sunrise group launched Buzz Radio in 2009 by rebranding Club Asia, which it had purchased.

Earlier this year Sunrise Radio Group sold its stake in Radio Plymouth and also appealed to listeners to donate money to keep the station going. In September its future looked bleak after facing a winding up petition, before being given 42 days to settle a £400,000 HMRC bill.
