Radio Norwich snaps up Heart’s Chandler

Rob Chandler has started at Radio Norwich 99.9 hosting breakfast just weeks after leaving Heart East Anglia.

It’s part of a new line-up with Geoff Hillyer moving from drive to daytime and freelancer Greg Powles gets the drive home. Former breakfast presenter Tom Kay, who was also Regional PD, left in the summer.

Rob started the show on New Year’s Day and will also be Programme Manager at Radio Norwich. He said the show is going to be packed full of interactive fun: “The listeners will have a big part to play on the show; choosing some of the music and joining in with loads of fun stuff. Competitions, characters and lots of laughs, it’ll truly be local radio at it’s best.

“You won’t hear talk of the Copdock Interchange or the same songs day in, day out. What you are going to hear is great music to wake up to and everything you need to set you up for the day. It will be local radio for our local listeners.”

Rob left Heart East Anglia on December 20th after 27 years on the station, previously known as Radio Broadland.

David Lovell, Group CEO for Anglian Radio Ltd, said: “This is an extremely exciting time for Radio Norwich 99.9. We are delighted to have Rob Chandler as part of the team and leading the city’s local radio station into 2014.

“Rob is a well-known personality in the city and we know that our listeners will give him a great big welcome. We are certain that he will help build on the success of Radio Norwich 99.9.

“We truly believe in local radio and giving our listeners all the news, travel and sport that is important to them, as well as lots of interactive fun along the way.
